Welcome

to the

Boardroom Bar and Bistro

We would like to welcome and invite you to a truly unique Italian dining experience.

What sets our cuisine apart is our menu that has been developed collectively by owners, Gianni Moscardini and his son, Executive Chef Gian-Mauro Moscardini.  Emphasis is placed on simple, fresh ingredients found in a traditional Italian kitchen.

Some of our food will be unfamiliar, such as Bresaola Valtellina, which is beef cured in a Northern Italian tradition, another example will be the Vitellone Fiorentina, that is a thick cut veal porterhouse  (the yearling calf) topped with arugula.  The beauty of our menu is that it will evolve through out the year depending on the season and what fresh ingredients are available.  We also are pleased to offer our hand-made bread that is baked daily and we hope that you will enjoy a selection from our dessert cart.

In 1999, the former Mayor of Albemarle, Roger Snyder, opened The Boardroom Bar and Bistro.  He did such a wonderful revitalization of this building that he received a reward for the “best Historic preservation project in North Carolina, in 2000.

The original building was built in 1908 by J.C. Parker. The building’s first occupant was Dr. J. C. Hall who opened Hall’s Pharmacy on the first floor.  Upstairs it was believed to have been rented to Mr. Fink who opened a photography studio.  Hall’s Pharmacy sold to Purcell’s Drug Store, which many still remember to this day.

The mosaic tile floor and tin pressed ceiling in the old bar area are original.  The majority of the lighting was taken from the town’s YMCA, while the hardwood floors were once at the site of the Wiscassett Mills.  The ladder which can be seen behind the old bar is the original and was used to reach pharmaceuticals.

The old bar its self, which was constructed in the 1880’s was imported by Roger Snyder from Carson City, Nevada.  There are many theories as to its history.

Thank you for dining with us and we hope that enjoy the historic collages and artwork depicting the history of Albemarle.
